As a young boy, I always was inspired about cartoons and interested in the life-like movements and charismatic appearances from various characters. Now as a student at Full Sail University, the remarkable tolerant journey for animation has begun and it is a matter of exploiting perseverance to pursue my overall achievements. In the light of my creative expedition, there is someone that encourages me to strive to do my best in all that I encounter upon. Notably, that person is known as the famous John Lasseter. As most animators may know, John Lasseter sprang upon several problems throughout his animation career, but in response, he discovered excellent methods to overcome the high tensions. Personally, I learned vital skills about his lifestyles and personal preferences when he experienced his downfalls. Henceforth, the imaginative skills attained from John Lasseter will help define and prepare my future pathway in animation.
First of all, my role model, John Lasseter, is a very fervent forbearing individual. Although he encountered many predicaments throughout his career, he was still able to achieve his goals of producing memorable animation movies for Pixar. In due time, Lasseter faced several misfortunes such as being ignored from his coworkers and employers, losing his job, and working long hours to produce a couple of films at once. After being hired into Walt Disney Animation Studios, he was very exhilarated with the experience, but unfortunately there was something
Walt Disney once said, “It’s not the magic that makes it work, it’s the work that makes the magic.” (Capodagli & Jackson, 2007). Walt Disney was truly a visionary and ethical leader that used his talents as a transformational leader and artist to dream up a world that has stood the test of time for nearly 90 years. In this paper I will explain why he was both a visionary and ethical leader. It will show that he used inspirational motivation and intellectual stimulation to further his clear and easy to follow vision, inspire his personnel, and leverage their creativity. It will also show why I believe Walt Disney fit into the traits of an ethical leader by valuing his team members and creating an environment of mutual trust and respect. Then I will tell you how I have used the same transformational leadership behaviors to lead my people, have made sure not to fall into an ethical trap and take credit for the work others do. All leaders could learn something from Walt’s visionary leadership.
Walt Disney was a very influential man to the entertainment industry. He made animation a whole new type of entertainment. Although Walt went through many struggles and problems, he pushed on and eventually saw results for all his hard work. Many hardships got in Disney’s way such as unsupportive parents and even bankruptcy; Walt pushed on through, always creating, working hard, and persevering to accomplish his dream.
Introduction: As long as there have been civilizations, there have been stories, myths that are told to children. These stories are usually the basis of the cartoons characters except some which are from creator’s imagination. This story telling is a means of not only comforting and amusing a child, but of teaching the child the societal norms of their nation. These are memorized by children and remembered forever. Children idolize their favourite character, the character they have most in common with and are best able to identify with, and try to emulate that character’s
Almost Half of a century of working for Walt Disney Productions went by when Les Clark decided to retire from the animation industry 1975. Clark was the first of Walt Disney’s legendary “Nine Old Men” (an affectionate term in which Disney adopted from Franklin D. Roosevelt when referring to his key animators). In 1925 Walt Disney was pleased with some drawings a young man who he had met at a candy store near the Walt Disney Studio in Hollywood. On their first meeting he had been impressed by the lettering Les had done on the menus. Two years later, with no formal art training but an avid interest in the new medium of animation, he asked Walt Disney for a job. He was cautioned that it might be temporary and that temporary job lasted 48 years
Haley James olive toned hands gripped the black leather steering wheel as she drove down main street away from Karen's cafe and away from the man that she very much wanted to be with. “Asshole.” Haley thought to herself thinking about her once best friend Lucas Scott; the friend that Haley had always gone to when things got tough and it was the same way around for him. They always had some kind of bond that made them each others shoulder including when Jamie died, Haley knew that she could always go to Lucas when she needed someone to talk too, but she didn't know that Lucas blamed her for Jamie's death. Nine years later and Lucas finally says the words that Haley never thought she'd hear him say, but then she never thought he would get this
About a year ago, in 1803, the Congress provided money for people to explore the new land territory that was just bought. Jefferson selected me to lead the expedition and I asked my buddy William Clark to go with me. We were asked to do quite a few things. We needed to study the geography of the territory such as the climate, rainy, cloudy, or clear days, the dates when plants grow or lose flowers and leaves, and the time animals would appear. We were also asked to learn about the Indian nations who lived out west, map a route to the pacific ocean, and be friendly towards the Indians. We are now started on our journey, and it’s the end of the first day, and I already have forgot about the things we were supposed to do considering the first
John Lasseter, now the famous Chief Creative Officer of Pixar and Disney, overcame failures and mistakes like everyone else to get to where he is today. He was born and grew up in Los Angeles, California. He went to California Institute of Arts. After graduating from school, he began working for Walt Disney Company. Lasseter was eventually fired but found work at Lucasfilm Computer Graphics Group, which also ended in a short time. After failing to keep his jobs, he sought for something new. This was when he joined the Pixar Animation Studios along with Edwin Catmull and Steve Jobs.
Walt Disney’s passion started from an early age when he went to a theater to see Snow White. In 1919, he worked in commercial business for a period of time where he found out that he is really talented. In 1923, he established Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio with his brother Roy, and he animated what is shot by a secondhand camera. The admirable story of Walt Disney (Bio. , 2015) revolves around few words; innovation, imagination and animation. An animation is basically defined as; a reproduction of movement that is created by displaying a series of pictures or frames. The most commonly known type of animation is the cartoons. The computerized animation, these days, is one of the key components of multimedia presentation.
The commonalities between unrelated essays can certainty astonish readers. It is amazing to find so many similarities once they have been critically read and analyzed. In the essay and video, “Ways of Seeing”, John Berger points out the growing popularity of reproduction, and investigates the hidden messages lying behind a variety of art pieces. In addition, the graphic memoir, “Are You My Mother”, written by, Alison Bechdel discusses the “queer” relationship with her mother, and the obstacles she faces while writing a memoir about her deceased father. Finally, in Judith Halberstam’s essay, “Animating Revolt and Revolting Animation” Halberstam questions the sexual deposition in animated movies and identifies the collective or individualist
In Scott McCloud’s “The Language of Comics”, McCloud shows us the world of icons, cartoons, and the purpose that they possess. McCloud demonstrates how icons can trigger emotions or reactions within our minds. We are shown that objects and drawings can depict real things, but they are in fact not the actual things that they portray. The icons are merely representative. In this story we see the various techniques and styles that are used in the world of cartoons. We see very detailed drawings and also simple cartons with relatable characters.
My name is Walter Disney, many people don't know this about me but i failed many times before I succeeded in the world of animation and film. My father use to say “ Always finished what you started and anything worth doing, is worth doing it well.” Even though my father didn't appreciate my love for animation his words stuck in my head I pushed myself to continue even if i’m set up to fail. With the help from my brother Roy i succeeded.
It is the fall of 1764, and the relations between white settlers of western Pennsylvania and Indians of the Ohio area are strained. "Daddy!" Clary's voice echoed into the ebony, still night, as she rode into the familiar, dark forest. The wind whipped through her fiery red tresses, creating a halo of crimson waves which flowed gently down her back. But the only mere answer/sound she received back was the mere echo of her own voice. The air was strangely still, and silent as glass, yet very frightful and stagnant, and it filled her heart and soul with the utmost dread. The only sound that she could hear beside her voice were Wayfarer's loud, excessive whining. "Daddy!" she called out once again, as her father's horse continued to spin around in circle's.
