1. Read the opening vignette. Watch a couple of the Gatorade videos. Discuss the role of integrated marketing communications in the marketing program of a product such as Gatorade. How can Gatorade use the various IMC tools to achieve its objectives of expanding into the sports nutrition market?

Gatorade does not need any formal introduction. Most of us are familiar with this energy drink and its benefits. It uses various methods to market itself such as social media, broadcast media, newspaper, events and so on. This drink values its customers and their views and that is one of the major reasons why it has not only focused on traditional advertising. Creating a product is a challenge but another big challenge is to maintain the flow of customers and Gatorade has been successful in doing so. It has not only created the awareness through various media but has tried to connect with the customers from every possible way. Gatorade is one of the best selling energy drink and mainly has targeted athletics as their primary priority (Belch & Belch, 2015, pp. 3-5).
The concept of IMC is slightly different from what traditional advertising has to offer. In other words it helps to connect rather than simply providing the information. I believe just information can be gathered easily but the foremost important factor is building relationships with customers and interacting with them. Likewise, Gatorade can use various IMC tools to achieve its objectives of expanding into the sports
