Since, founded in 1998, Google is now leading in one of the best company to work for in 2015. Scholar and Economists alike often question what make Google becoming one of the best Companies to work for five years in a row. A successful organization strives to foster a culture that reinforces a healthy mix of work and nonwork activities (Denisi & Griffin, 2016). Did Google be able to achieve the equilibrium between work and play, and how did they do that so effectively.
Although, fun is an important part of Google, but they also creating an opportunity for indiscreet exploration and discover. Therefore, fun is an outcome of who Googlers are, rather than the distinguished characteristics. Still, it doesn’t describe how Google works or why they choose to operate the way they do. To understand that, you must explore the three defining facets of Google’s Cultures: mission, transparency, and voice.
The truth fact is we all want to be a part of something that’s matter and we want to leave our footprint in this world. The best part is, that all of these services are basically free. Google has also set to build more then just a search engine. Google is also fighting in D.C. to keep the Internet free for Americans. Lastly, Google has one of the best working environments in the world. Google has been the number 1 best company to work for 5 times in a row, including this year. They have been reported to the best human resources department in the world, taking their employee’s happiness over profit. Google designed their offices and cafes to encourage employees to interact with other Googlers within and across teams. This allows them to spark conversations about work, as well as play, creating a relaxing work place. It’s not the typical corporate culture. In fact, just by looking at pictures inside the Googleplex, you can see that it looks more like an adult playground, not a place for work. Google’s success can be attributed to the free culture of their workplace. Google has people whose sole job is to keep employees happy and maintain productivity.

In 1998, Stanford University graduates Larry Page and Sergey Brin combined their ingenuity and built a search engine called “BackRub” that evolved into what is now known as Google. Google, with over 150 domains, now functions as a search engine that offers many different products and services including web applications, advertising, sports scores, stock quotes, headlines, addresses, videos, etc. Google’s focus is “to provide useful and relevant information to the millions of people around the world as they rely on us (Google) to provide the answers they are seeking.”
As we can infer from the table above, Google‘s mission is consistent with its objectives in terms of how they complement each other. In its mission, Google promises to organize the world’s information and make it available for everyone to access. On the other hand, Google’s first objective is to provide information independent of any financial incentives. Moreover, they clearly state that their profits are mainly derived from advertising while information providing is for free. Google focuses on improving its operation by achieving higher quality products in order to better satisfy consumers, while the objectives precisely states that Google will employee all potential technological developments to improve users’ experience.
