Starting a new beginning at an agency is always an exciting but nervous feeling for myself. I’m never sure of the type of agency I am entering but I am sure to prepare myself for what is to come. I believe that first impressions are crucial on the projection of setting the tone for the duration of the time I would be with the agency. I also focus on the first initial line of communication to determine how the agency conducts business. Based upon an agency response time, that tells me how effective they are with communicating in a timely manner or vice versus. Furthermore, this goes into play with my perception of the agency. Additionally, these factors played a major role in the selection I made to volunteer at Dreaam House Kindergarten …show more content…
Moving forward to the first day of volunteering, I was not given any form of orientation. I had originally requested sixth through either graders to work with and was given kindergartens. I believe there should have been an orientation to communicate with me on the population of children and what to expect from the children I am working with. The director should have taken in consideration my preference or conversed with me to make sure I was comfortable working with younger children. There could have be concerns, safety and personal reasons as to why I did not choose younger. All in which should have been discussed to provide safety for the children themselves. I also would have appreciated being told my expectations and role in working with the children. I was thrown right into the volunteer experience and was trusted the first day alone with the children. It was great that I had experience with children and entertaining the children was no problem but then again that lack of protecting the children is at stake. Reflecting back on my first experience, I would have not done anything different because with everything I do, there is always a learning component attached to it. This experience would be able to guide what I get from it, which now allows me to build an agenda that gives me the opportunity to form a great volunteer challenge.
After seeing the smiles that seemed almost permanent that week, I realized how important it is to work with and help younger children. I also learned what it’s like knowing that you’ve made a difference in someone’s life. I’ve been a counselor at that same camp for two more years since that first summer, and it gets better every time. Even though it can be difficult and frustrating to work with children sometimes, the reward that you, as well as the children, receive is well worth the effort.
This report explores the three genres of communication within the major of veterinary technology. Its purpose is to inform individuals about how these specific genres are present in this field. Methods, results, discussion and conclusions are discussed. To research these three genres of communication several sources were required. I initiated my researching with internet searches to find more information to support why these three genres of communication are the most significant in the field of veterinary technology.
People from different backgrounds may use and/or interpret communication methods in different ways because every family has their own way of communicating together. For example: some children might hear or speak more than one language at home or they could hear others swearing. This can affect children’s communication and how they communicate as adults.
Throughout the years I feel that I’ve had a number of valuable experiences, my most significant experience is my volunteering experience at Children’s Hospital Colorado. I still remember feeling utterly terrified on my first day volunteering, pondering all the possible ways things could go wrong. I suddenly felt as though I have never experienced this before. I was on my own, responsible for myself and all of my actions.
Approaching the task of having to communicate with your customers to affectively resolve their problem can be a difficult task, therefore using various negotiation techniques in the process will be very important. Before anyone would contact a customer regarding their problem, you would always need to know what has to be achieved in the long run of the discussion, as you will effectively be working towards what’s best for their service whilst it being beneficial towards both customer and the organisation. Sometimes customers may need something improved on their service which is out of the ordinary, therefore it is my task to comprise and introduce other products or services that we have available to offer in order for their satisfaction and a positive customer experience. Listening carefully is one of the most crucial aspects of negotiation, as you must be able to offer new products and services whilst communicating with customers, which can be proven to be quite the task itself, therefore you would always have to be alert and listen very carefully to their needs in order to offer them the correct product or service for their need.
As I prepare to serve at kids connection I have a few set goals for myself to get the best out of the experience. I plan to fully commit and not just go there because I have to. I want to interact and build relationships with the children. I hope to find the children's interests out, so I can participate and do activities with them. By doing this I hope to learn about them and start building a trusting relationship with them. This is my plan as I am going in, but I know when dealing with children nothing goes as planned. I am going to be ready to adjust to whatever happens, but I am excited to help out with the children. All in all I believe this is a good opportunity to interact with children and learn how each individual is unique in their own way.
My experiences working with children officially began in 2012 when I started working for One of A Kind Progressive Early Education. I worked with children of all ages, primarily toddlers and preschoolers. While working at One of A Kind, I assisted the lead teachers as much as possible. I helped develop daily routines of activities, lesson plans, nap, and toilet-training times that seemed most effective for the students. I worked with parents during pick up and drop off times to make sure they were happy with the schedule and care their child was receiving. I was in charge of maintaining a safe environment for the students at One of A Kind.
There are many forms of communication which can be used to meet the different needs of individual's and these may include one or more of the following:
I have to admit I was a little nervous before I went volunteer at New Hope Tulsa. When I was nineteen I spent the summer working as a school age child care worker, in a neighborhood where many of the children were at-risk youth. I remember crying every night before bed because I did not want to go to work the next day. They treated me so badly and did not listen at all. It was very stressful to me and I did not know how to handle it. As apprehensive as I was to start volunteering, I was also excited. Yes, in the past I had a hard time, but I’ve also grown and learned so much since then. It was also helpfully that New Hope provided such an extensive orientation and trained on many aspects, including effective discipline. So, by the time I spent
When I was first awoken before 8:00 a.m on a Monday morning in July, it is not hard to imagine how unamused I was. My mom had signed me up to volunteer for two weeks at the Munroe Meyer Institute at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Their summer camp for kids with special needs ages three and a half through twenty-one had become my home for the next week. This camp provides an summer camp experience for kids who would not otherwise have one. The campers are divided into groups with staff and volunteers as well. A volunteer at Camp Monroe has a new buddy every day they help their buddy with tasks, offer encouragement, and give simple direction when needed. The activities for the campers include: swimming, cooking, sports, creative
First of all, I am thanking you for considering me to be apart of your childcare team. I have a wonderful and charming personality and energy for children. And most importantly, every child that I have personally been with no matter how sweet and naughty they are I can get them to be the best child. In the summer of my sophomore year I have already personally worked at a childcare as a teenage volunteer four to five days a week and I have always gotten great feedbacks from parents. I have also interned at an elementary school for two weeks as a teacher’s assistant for a first grade class after those two weeks I would still visit the children’s sometimes and all of them they loved. And for the last five years I have been apart of my church’s
My job while I was volunteering was to read and play games with these kids to make sure they feel like they are being cared for even though they do not live with their families. Every Tuesday and Thursday, I was given the opportunity to meet several different kids of all ages and spend time with them like we were their best friends. Some of
It is important to agree and commit to a strategy for communicating as a project team. Consider options. Having a communication strategy that people haven’t had an opportunity to agree on, or who aren’t aware of, will mean that communication won’t be effective.
I have been volunteering as a Child-Youth-Family (CYF) volunteer at the Brampton YMCA since I was in Grade 8. I have worked directly alongside supervisors and other volunteers to bring positive change to the children that frequent the YMCA in a diverse range of programs, such as Child/Youth Multisport, Child/Youth Jungle Gym, Childminding, and Family Badminton. I have also led programs individually and with a partner on the YMCA’s National Healthy Kids Week program, and various YMCA community outreach programs, such as dance recitals and bake sales. These are roles in which I showcase my ability to lead programs and lead children effectively
I recently had the opportunity to volunteer at the Salvation Army Women and Children’s Shelter in Raleigh. This opportunity was in the evening and I was going alone so I was very nervous. I knew where to go and I had educated myself on what the shelter offered so I was familiar with the programs. Going in, I had to check in at a desk and staff lead me to the room where I would be working. In the room, a social worker came up to me and introduced herself. She gave me a tour of the facility and talked to me about what she did at her job and what I would be doing during my time there.
