Unit 221 Use office equipment 1.Know about different types of office equipment and its uses. 1.1 Identify different types of equipment and their uses. There are many different types of office equipment in our work. The main one found in the offices are: -telephone- we use it to make and receive a phone calls -printers- to print document and work papers -shredder- to shred important notes, paper work -computers- we use them to many work related tasks. Word processor programs are used to type up notes and minutes and to produce reports and communications, while spreadsheet programs will be used in account keeping. Disposing of waste cost company a lot of money. The bigger company the bigger bill. Also wasted electricity cost a lot of money. We produce too much waste and we need to reduce this and recycle whatever we can. And let's not forget about environment. Much of our waste ends up in landfill sites. As the waste breaks down, it gives off carbon emissions, which is bad for the environment. By reducing waste, a business can reduce its carbon footprint, which will help to decrease the negative impact that the business has on the environment. 4. Know about the different types of problems that may occur when using equipment and how to deal with them. Sometimes when we use office equipment we may have different types of problems. They can delay our work or even make it impossible to finish. We must know how to deal with them to be able work as effectively as possible. 4.1 Give examples of equipment problems. We can have many different problems when we use office equipment. They may be caused by technical problems or simply they can be caused by us. For example, one of the possible problems can be problems with printer. We can run out with toner, or paper, or paper can comes out of the printer very creased. Or computer, we can have lot of problems with it. Computer can crashed or we can forget to save our files and we will lose them, or some programs can refuse to work.
