Values Paragraphes Have you ever looked closely at the lyrics from a song you like and found out that it supports your own personal values? From filling out a values sheet in class I found that my three big values are family, individuality, and success. After I looked into my three values I looked at the lyrics in one of my favorite songs which is “Young, dumb, and broke” by Khalid. And guess what I found. I found that the lyrics to the song directly correspond to my personal values. First of all I looked into my first and most important value which is family. My family members are the people that I can trust with anything. They keep me safe clothed and fed. I am very thankful for them and I truly believe that at this point in my life I could not live without them. For example, when I was struggling in school last year they were hard on me and I didnt appreciate it at first, but it ended up being the best thing for me and my grades.
The value of family is shown in my song in the line “ we’re just young, dumb, and broke but we still got love to give”. I think this is a good example because even though I may do some bad things or dumb things, I am young and have plenty of time to make up for it, and of course I will always love my parents and they will always love me no matter what.
Secondly I value individuality, because as I get older it gets more and more relevant to real life. Also I just think that not being owned by your parents and having them tell you what to do and when to do it all the time is a good thing. I also think that I feel this way because of my age, I am soon going to be able to drive and do many more adult like things and I like to make my own decisions.
An example of valuing individuality in the song, I chose a line that says “we argue all the time” which in the song is referring to a girlfriend but I am going to talk about it referring to me and my mom arguing all the time instead. Me and my mom have an argument, literally every day, and it does not matter what we argue about, there is always something, but lots of times the arguments are about individuality. For example, the other day I asked if I could go to my friends house and she said no. I asked why and she said the famous line
I value doing things that help me live a healthier lifestyle. I understand that it is important to take care of myself by eating healthy, exercising, and doing my best to alleviate stress. If I don’t take care of myself I will not be in any shape to help anyone else. When I was younger my values were materialistic. I was more concerned about what I
This song represents the talents that i have and what I have that we call determination. the song is fun and addicting for the whole family and more. Talent is tricky subject to get into, because this can go into many categories. I don't have many talents, but i get by and get the job done. In oak hill high school i was a silent and did not interact with anyone during class and man did i have bad acne. That's in the past and I grew confidence and i'm a manager at kfc. So things are not bad as their were back in the day when i was young and free. That's not the subject at hand, talents are really helpful and can entertain for years to come. Having no talent would make a person into that business guy that nobody likes. I mean nobody wants to be left out (except emos). The artist artist 009 sound system can be a good contender on what a person wants to be when the grow up and goto college” You can do anything you want to” that phrase helps represents the talent of adapting which I found out to be the most helpful to me. anyways talent can be a major part of like and should be taken seriously one day that talent can get that job the everyone else
In today’s society, music controls the way we live our lives. The influence that music has on society has broadened throughout the years and with social media being one of the world’s top priority, the fan base and spectrum for music in general has expanded significantly. Music is used to express feelings, moods, circumstances, experiences, knowledge, and so much more. With this being the case, the lyrics of any song can be interpreted differently by each and every listener. Many song lyrics give positive messages, promoting well-being, whiles others give negative messages, promoting violence, criminal behaviors, sexual contents, and disrespect towards others. With this being said, music reflects what the public demands, and in many cases the negative messages are often times what sells more than those music giving positive messages.
– My personal values will have to be respecting others, education, and helping and caring for others. The person(s) who I feel influenced me the most in forming my values is my parents and my grandmother. They influenced me because growing up they always preach about treating others with respect even if I feel like they don’t deserved it. They also made sure that education was a priority and not an option. For as helping and caring for others I always saw them helping when they didn’t necessary didn’t have too and not one complain or threw it in the person face. The value that lead me into social work is helping and caring for others wanting to see them do better and make better decision in life.
The thing I value most in my life is my independence. I love being able to not have to depend on others to make my way through life. As the first born child, I have had to deal with my parents helicopter parenting me, trying to do everything for me. As I got older I had realized that I did not like my parents doing everything for me, it made me feel powerless to be able
The song expresses how people are not living up to society's values and norms. It suggest that the socialization is at fault and that they contribute to improvement of self being. The song implies the way society goes against values and norms by one of the very first lyrics in the song. The lyric goes, “What’s wrong with the world, mama, People livin’ like they ain’t got no mamas…” (lines 1-2). This makes one aware of the lack of values in one's family. Values is the belief or an idea that a person or group has to determine is correct or not. Another verse of how the band shows one disobedience of the values and norms comes toward the middle of the song. “People killin', people dyin’, Children hurt and you hear them cryin, Can you practice what you preach, And would you turn the other cheek…” (lines 50-53). These verses show of society has failed to act stable and logical way that society once viewed as correct living. These actions show that citizens have not lived up to the expectations of society. Social norms are likes the laws of society. Laws are things that are illegal behaviour and norms are like behaving in a way society wouldn’t like. For example being in gangs, like the bloods, or the crips, or a big group that goes against society's norms like racial groups. An example of a racial group would be the KKK.
Some people value education and material things while others value religion and spirituality. You have to identify the values that are going to make you happy because if you don’t you may try to accomplish things to make other people happy. Having values helps you to determine where you want to go in life and the decisions you make. If you value something you are pretty much going to base every thing you do around that. Having values makes you a unique person because it has a big impact on the choices you make and the lifestyle you live. One thing you have to value is college because if you don’t value it you won’t succeed in it because you don’t care what you do and you won’t achieve anything.
I value knowledge, determination and individuality the most. Knowledge brings one closer to the answers they might have in life as well as guide them through tough or significant periods in their life. It helps with choices and gives an understanding to one about those around them or society in general. Determination is key to achieving a goal or succeeding in a desired career path as well as individuality. Setting oneself apart from the rest, allows people to stand out and be known as themselves not as part of a group or class. These qualities identify and help motivate a
Immediately, I continued to the next part of the Self-assessment section, values. The three options I most valued were altruism/helping society, creativity, and helping others. These values emphasize results I have found in previous sections. I truly value being someone who helps others and
Education, family, and friends have always been my number one, but there's more of a story to tell. My family contains four members, my father John, my mother Dana, and my sister Hailey. My dad works for the military, Air force. He does a big favor to our country and I am proud to be his daughter. My mom Dana, is a CNA at Heritage nursing home. She wants to start her own photography business. My
The ability to portray a narrative through a song helps visualize the meaning of a unique story. Depending on the message the song delineates, can either put a saccharine smile on one’s face or generate a cascade of tears. The impactfulness of a story, especially through a song, provides meaningful lyrics which may relate to a dramatic event in a person’s life. Since the days of Native Americans singing songs and telling oracles, the lyrics a song possesses forms special stories that helps a person with their individual struggles in life. Therefore, people often refer to songs to revitalize an unpleasant day. Notable artists usually achieve significant success when they produce impactful songs that many can relate to. Their awareness
To conclude, the thought that, “All we are is skin and bones, trained to get along. Forever going with the flow,” can connect to my daily life, the chinese philosophy of legalism, and the novel 1984. In my own life, society pressures me to “go with the flow”, in chinese history legalist believed all “good” human behavior was taught, and in 1984, the effects of a forced way of life are shown. The words of Taylor Swift perfectly captured the world we are a part of, and how humans live. Hopefully, these lyrics can provide insight into personal behavior and individuality
Jimmy Eat World is a band that portrays positive messages that reassures people of independence and individuality. In their song “The Middle,” the persona suggests that one should focus on their own actions, rather than the actions of others. The speaker, Jim Adkins, suggests to the “you” of the song that “[y]ou know you're doing better on your own, so don't buy in.” By encouraging the listener to stay strong and not “buy in” to the actions of others, he suggests that one can ignore what others do, whether unhealthy or destructive, and focus on how oneself behaves. This group is advising listeners to make their own decisions, as they have the capability to do good no matter the flaws of others, and they support those whose originality is
Over the course of my life my values have changed based on circumstance. Currently if I had to list out my top five values in descending order they would be: religion, family, education, country, and culture. I value religion first and foremost because of my beliefs system that has been instilled in me since I was a child. " If you place God first in your life, then everything else will work itself out", is something my Grandfather has always told me. Family is something that doesn 't necessarily come first, but is a very high value to me. I identify as being a very caring father and husband, the protector, and head of my household. My family has always been supportive of my decisions. They have influenced me to always give my best at everything and to persevere when I fail. Education is the new value that has began to take a precedence in my life. Education is the bridge to success that I am striving to succeed at. Without education I cannot properly attend to my family 's needs. The time demand of education also puts it very high on my values list because it warrants the majority of my attention.
In my life, there are things I value very highly. At the top of this list is family. You can have anything in this world, but without family, it is not worth it. Family are the people who love you, motivate you, comfort
