Working for 1800-GOT-JUNK? this summer was an awesome experience. I really believe that I found the perfect internship for anyone who has never had one before. 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Has never had an intern until this summer. So both the company and I were fairly new to the intern and company relationship. I think it worked out well the first person I met was the former vice president of operations Michael fink. I met mike at the career fair that was held in the lane university center. He told me they were looking for guys to do summer work and that they also had a mass communication internship opportunity. A few weeks later I met with vice president of development Gregory frank. Gregory is very upbeat guy who is seems passionate about growing the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Brand. Before I became the intern he produced his own welcome video for the Washington D.C franchise. He asked me if I could help in his mission to grow the brand and to keep wowing customers. I knew i was up to the task. My first week of work was basic I learned how to make “Welcome calls”. A welcome call is just a way to confirm that the client is aware that will be coming out to haul away their miscellaneous items. During the welcome calls we also let customers know that our truck team members will call them thirty minutes prior to their appointment window to reconfirm and they can process payment on site with the truck team using either cash or credit card. During this first week of training I met the managers of
The goal of the internship was to complete a 150 hours and provide a weekly summary of activities. In order to get the internship I had to do a phone screening with Mary Doe. She is the administrative assistant to Commander John Doe. Who is the Assistant Associate Director of Facility Support and also the internship supervisor for the SIU Health Care Management students at FHCC. I meet with CDR John Doe for a brief interview. We went over my goals and what I hope to gain by interning at FHCC. I felt interning at FHCC would be a natural transition because CDR Wallis has a background in Healthcare Administration.
Shitty First Draft a novel written by a woman named Anne Lamott is an educational novel that talked about her life experience in writing her novels. In Free Writing Exercises written by Peter Elbow, he explains that everyone limits themselves in writing because they are constantly editing their work. In the Pleasures of Reading written by Rebecca Mead it talks about how people read to impress themselves. When I was younger, I loved to read because the stories kept me entertained when I was bored but, as I grew older the books I read started to get more complicated because I didn’t know all the vocabulary which made it harder for me to understand the book I was reading. Finally, “The Maker’s Eye” written by Donald
The sweet atmosphere of the SFEFCU Kendall branch makes working for them a pleasure. I met all the other 12 interns and we instantly became best friends. The first three days are amazing. I feel so intellectual knowing how a credit union is ran and knowing I’ll be able to do hands on work by next week. Except it isn’t at the Kendall branch but Homestead, my surprise placement I didn’t even know existed. I was so confused that I requested to switch to Kendall, not much of a change was possible but I would be able to spend two days at
I knew it was time to start looking for an internship for this summer. While looking at the career services website a few months ago I stumbled across a logistics internship through Anderson Trucking Service. I researched the company for a while, and looked at the internship posting on ATS’s website. During my reading I found a few qualifications that matched my abilities and knew this was the internship for me. A couple of the key qualifications were: strong problem-solving skills, hard-worker, and sense of integrity. I have always pride myself on the fact that I can always accomplish something if I work hard enough. For strong problem-solving skills I go back to my previous job, where I was faced with solving problems on a regular
800 Word Essay Food, health and medical technologies have a large impact on individuals and communities today and in the future. Throughout this paper, discussion will involve the issues that society faces regarding food and health and how we can create a healthier and safer world for our future. The food industry has a large impact on individuals and will affect wider communities in the future. The rush of today’s society has pushed food production to become more commercialized with prepackaged/premade based foods. For numerous reasons such as time, work and costs of living, people are wanting meals that are cheap, fast, easy and don’t require much effort.
Although this internship was great and I loved the majority of it, there were times where not everything would make sense to me. When those times came Sandie was generally very helpful and able to help me. When she was not around another member of the staff would generally help. There were a few times where there was nobody to ask a question to and I just had to try to figure it out on my own. One of those times happened when I had to use a fat loss monitor at the gym for the partner up challenge. I had never used the one here before and did not know exactly how it worked. I did not realize that I was going to be doing it on my own at the time either so I was not as prepared as I should have been. It took ten minutes to figure out how to work the machine and that one of them was broken. I felt unprofessional and I am sure I looked unprofessional as well. In the end everything turned out well, but at the time it was quite difficult because nobody was around to help and I was stuck trying to figure it out. This is one place better communication from everyone, including me, would have helped this troubling situation resolve easier.
My internship experience at Texas Total Health has been a great learning experience. While interning there I had the opportunity to perform numerous tasks and jobs, which has helped me build on my nutrition experience. Before beginning this experience I was expecting to get the opportunity to work with clients and observe nutrition counseling in a real life setting. I also wanted to be able to practice creating client’s meal plans, and learn how a private nutrition business operates. On top of my expectations there was a job description of the intern position with many task to be performed over the semester. Now after recently completing my internship at Texas Total Health my experience did meet my expectations and the job description was accurate.
We kicked off the internship in Nashville at 8:30am. I met my mentor and copious bosses. I will be partnering with the logistic team for the rest of my internship. Today consisted of numerous meetings. The meetings included; meet and greets, breakfast/lunch, discussing our expectations and our leaders expectations, briefing target policies/core roles, and learning the specific leadership roles we have to achieve and or maintain in order to prepare for our final operation review. We have approximately ten weeks with Target aka a ten-week interview. A couple of cool facts that I learned about Target is it started in 1962! Target gives back four million dollars a week to charity and those in need. There are 49 states and 30 countries
My first day, I arrived early and was greeted by the office secretary, Anna, a recent college graduate and former intern from the same company. She gave me a tour of the office (making sure to point out both of the bar carts for the office parties, fully stocked with alcohol, she only briefly checked that I was 21), showed me where I would be working, and gave me a basic run down of what I would be helping out with. The development team yet to come in, so she sat to chat with me until I was given something to do. While chatting, she told me that at some point during the day, I should expect to be pulled aside by the company’s owner, Kevin. According to Anna, Kevin sits down to talk to every intern on their first day to discuss their internship and to
Last year when I was enrolled in previous semester I have received a call from a reputable organization to work as an intern for a period of two months. The internship was placed in marketing department and I was very happy because I felt that this internship would be very fruitful in terms of work experience and exploring new things in the dimension of marketing. However, unfortunately, I couldn’t secure good marks and perform better at the organization due to lack of communication and interpersonal skills and this was the worst experience that I encountered. Lack of communication skills made me unable to
How are you? I wanted to share some input as an intern/co-op for MRC Medical Communications to bear in mind for future candidates. Before I began at MRC Medical Communications, both Eileen Quaglino and I tried to get Susan to say if the co-op was paid or not. Susan Rector did not return my emails or Eileen's calls. Also regarding the start date, she was very last minute and not very communicative. As the weeks went by, the fact that it was unpaid was answered by default not by Susan. The work itself at MRC was interesting and I gained experience and confidence and worked hard. The work itself I enjoyed. Even though it is unpaid, I put extra hours on most days, and worked from home weekends to get the work done especially after their graphic
The first company I talked to was actually by accident and that was Penske the moving truck company. I was scouring the map for companies that offered internships for human sciences and was having little success when all of the sudden I heard a voice say "Looking for a job, Ethan?". I was startled when I heard this and I
CREDS The two main themes, domes and the sky, are represented in all denominations as in the previous submission. However, a few changes were made to enhance the appearance of the coins, banknotes and cards as can be seen in the following images: 10 coin The 10 creds coin changed its colour from yellow to blue in order to have a colour palette in concordance with the rest of the currency elements. 100 creds front side 1000 creds front side
Work can cause many issues with oneself and society. There can be a inner struggle in someone if they don’t like their job. Society can cause the discussion of jobs to become a controversial topic. In the poems “Lady In The Pink Mustang” by Louise Erdrich, “The Restaurant Business” by James Tate, and “So Mexicans Are Taking Jobs From Americans” by Jimmy Santiago Baca, the authors use divisions and conflicts to make readers see a bigger picture.
Today was the first day of internship. I attended a new hire training secession about 8 hours and heard about the history of Novogradac & Company LLP, met the partners of the firm, completed all new hire paperwork and turned in to HR. In addition, I learned about ProSystem Engagement which company has been using for audit and tax preparation software. At the end of the day, all intern received a tour of office and met their own team members.
