ABC has been producing outstanding programming since the days of radio back in 1943. Born out of NBC’s sale of their Blue Network, ABC eventually got into television in 1949, making it one of the big three stations. Number Seven: ABC Was the First to Allow Pre-Taped Shows
Setting themselves apart from the other stations, ABC began using a Magnetophon tape recorder to pre-record their shows, which CBS and NBC were not doing. This was especially crucial to maintaining Bing Crosby’s show, as he preferred working in a recording studio as opposed to broadcasting live.

When Disneyland opened, the network produced a special program, Dateline Disneyland, with host Art Linkletter, to coincide with the event. The network also aired a weekly television program with the same name as the park, which became their first top 10 hit.
Number Four: They Aired the Most Watched Television Series in History
When ABC aired the miniseries version of Alex Haley’s Roots, it became the most watched and discussed program in history. It’s initial airing earned 130 million viewers, with the final episode drawing in nearly 100 million viewers. All episodes continue to rank in Nielsen’s list of the top 100 rated TV shows of all time, with the final episode coming in at number three.

At a time when it was felt that women could not be taken seriously reporting on hard news stories, ABC decided to take a chance with Barbara Walters. Hiring her away from NBC’s The Today Show, Walters became the first female in evening news, co-anchoring the ABC Evening News along with Harry
Disneyland opened one year after construction began, but opening day was a disaster. It was one of the hottest days of the year and everything went wrong. The problems on opening day were broken rides, not enough drinking fountains, counterfeit tickets, and soft asphalt. After a few days they worked out the problems and it became a success. Disneyland’s opening was broadcast on live TV, and was co hosted by Ronald Reagan. Like opening day problems at the park, the TV program also had many technical difficulties.
How many people today watch family sitcoms to imitate or compare values with their own? Probably not as many as there were in the 1950s. | In 1955, Disneyland was introduced to the American public by creator Walt Disney. It was one of the first theme parks offered in America and attracted crowds of young children and families. The theme park was inspired by many of Walt Disney’s animated features as well as historical figures like Mark Twain and Abraham Lincoln.
Recent years have seen a major growth in the Walt Disney Company "enterprise" as one would call it. Growing from movies, TV, theme parks, stores to Broadway shows, Disney Company has set a benchmark for other companies. Early in 1996, Disney completed its acquisition of Capital/ABC. The $19 Billion deal brought the country's top television network to the Disney, in addition to 10 TV Stations, 21 radio stations, 7 daily newspapers, and ownership positions in 4 cable networks.
There was no turning back after that. Disney went on to become a major international corporate giant in the US media industry and a model for other media companies. After acquiring the ABC television network in 1995, Disney finally became a fully diversified media corporation and was the most recognisable brand in the entertainment world (Kramer 2002).
