- Cereal is being dried in a vertical drier by air flowing countercurrent to the cereal. To prevent breakage of the cereal flakes, some of the exit air from the drier is recycled back to mix with the the moist fresh air. For each 1000 kg/hr of wet cereal fed to the drier, calculate the input of moist fresh air in kg/hr and recycle rate in kg/hr. The available data on stream compositions is (fractions): For water: Fresh air: 0.0132 Wet cereal: 0.200 Exit air: 0.263 Dried Cereal: 0.050 Air entering Dryer: 0.066Hot mix asphalt (HMA) is commonly used in the construction of roadways in the United States at a rateestimated to be 500,000,000 tons/year. A typical upper layer (there may be as many as 5 layers ofdifferent thicknesses and compositions) of a high-volume highway is composed of crushed stone (alsoknown as crushed aggregate) and asphalt binder and is approximately 1.25 inches thick. The stone, which has a specific gravity of about 2.7, is mixed with asphalt binder (SG = 1.03) to form the HMAwith a composition of approximately 95 wt% aggregate and 5% asphalt. What is the volume ft3 of asphalt binder and weight (tons) of HMA required for the top layer of a 15-mile segment of interstatehighway with 5 lanes, each of which has a width of 12 ft?Downvoted for wrong solution. A river is carrying water containing 2000 mg/l Magnesium Chloride into a small lake. The lake has a naturally occurring Magnesium Chloride of 50 mg/l. If the river flow is 2500 Lmin and the lake flow rate is 1.5 m³.sec¹, what is the concentration of MgCl2 in the lake after the discharge point? Assume that the flows in the river and lake are completely mixed, that the salt is a conservative substance, and the system is at steady state.
- Ethyl alcohol (C2H5OH) may be prepared by the fermentation of glucose (C6H12O6) as indicated by the equation: yeastC6H12O6 ----> C2H5OH + CO2 74.12 mL of ethyl alcohol (specific gravity = 0.790) was collected by this fermentation pro- cess. What mass of glucose was used? SET-UP: Answer:If 35,000 kg of whole milk containing 4% fat is to be separated in a 6-hour period into skim milk with 0.45% fat and cream with 45% fat, what are the mass flow rates of the two output streams from a continuous centrifuge which accomplishes this separation? (Ans; Cream=464.8335kg/h, Skim milk= 5368.4998kg/h)What is the Molecular weight of a certain volatile liquid which is placed in 225 g flask which has total capacity volume of 252.17 mL. After the liquid was heated to 96.7 oC the gass volatilized and the weight of the flask measure 227.33g. What is the could be the MW of the volatile sample?

CEC of the soil (cmol(+)/kg) is:When using the LWQ method, a pharmacist needs to obtain 60 mg of a drug using a balance that has a MWQ of 120 mg. If the desired quantity of drug is to be contained in a mixture mass of 150 for the last step, what mass of diluent (in mg) is to be weighed by the pharmacist? Question is proper.
- There's 1 drink (and you are asked to determine the glucose concentration in the drink in the units of g/100mL. (Why these units? Well, once you have the concentrations in g/100mL you will be able to compare your values with the nutritional values given on the drink bottles’ labels). The sample of the drink was diluted 1/100 (i.e. by a factor of 100). This was an essential step in the method because, without it, the machine used to analyse the glucose concentration (spectrophotometer) would have given an error as the concentration would have been too high for accurate detection. What this means for you is that the dilution factor will need to be taken into consideration in your calculations (remember the aim is to calculate the concentration in the original drink and not in the diluted drink). You measured the concentration of their diluted drink using the spectrophotometer and their results were provided to them in the units mM (millimolar). I understand everything you did, but I have one question. Some experts says that km can be calculated by saying Vmax from date divided by 2 and then they find Km by going down on x-axis on the graph. But, you used the MM equation, to solve for Km. Is both method the same? Or is one of them more precise than the other? *And if theres no need to reply back after you answering my question, then I will thank you again for your help. I have more these types of exam questions that I will probably upload later, and I hope someone like you will look at it.
