Meaning of Work Sampling

Work Sampling is a Statistical Tool and it helps an organization find out the time which is spent by the worker/employee on a particular organizational activity like for how much duration an employee is there on a particular machine or for how much time he has been idle. Through work sampling, a lot of observations are done on the employee and the performance of the employee may be reviewed. Work Sampling in terms of calculation is simply the ratio of working hours and idle hours of an employee in the organization.
