Discussion thread: Group members response Based on what I learned in this course, I would define effective communication as communicating most productively. Communication is something that we do all of the time. We have plenty of conversations with people around us throughout our daily lives. In most cases, we are communicating with each other but we are not communicating effectively. Basic communication is not ultimately productive or beneficial for the individuals on both sides of the conversation. When I was younger my mother used to ask me, “did you only hear me or are you LISTENING to me?” You might think that those tasks are the same but they take on different meanings. Hearing is not receiving the information that is being communicated. Listening is the proper and most effective method of receiving what is being communicated. We have to understand that the information relayed in regular communication is not always received by the recipient as the sender intends. Effective communication is the process of the sender and recipient being on the same accord regarding the information being communicated. Effective communication is extremely beneficial to your audience/readers. This method of communicating allows the information you want to pass on to be received perfectly. Often there can be a disconnection between what you want to communicate and what others receive. Effective communication clears the disconnection between all the individuals involved.  Question: Respond to the Group Member's response by their understanding of what "Effective Communication" is to an audience.
