Question
This is the code:
String name = Doe, John";
int index =name.indexOf(" , ");
String firstName= name.substring(index + 2, name.length());
System.out.println(firstName);

Transcribed Image Text:Q12. The code below takes a person's name (string) that is supposed to be of the following format: last
name, then a comma, then the first namO The code then extracts the first name only and prints it.
Now this code will not work if the original pame is not in the proper format: if there is no comma
(1.e., its position is -1), then the substring method is called with an invalid index, thus throwing an
IndexOutOfBoundException. Add the necessary code so that if the exception is thrown, we do not
print the first name only but the (original) name variable instead. Note: extra space is provided so
that you can insert code where it is needed. (10 marks)
