Using the punnet square (di-hybrid cross) solve the following:
In a certain breed of dog, the dominant, B, is required for black fur; and it’s recessive, b, produces brown fur. However, the dominant, I is the epistatic gene to the color locus and can inhibit pigment formation. The epistatic recessive allele, i, on the other hand, permits pigment deposition in the fur.
-Cross the following parents: bbIi x BBIi
1st Question to answer ---- How many different possible genotypes are there among the offspring?
2nd Question to answer ---- How many of the offspring could be black?
3rd Question to answer ---- How many of the offspring could be brown?
4th Question to answer ---- How many of the offspring could be albino (white)?

- 3) Short tail length in cattle is caused by an X-linked recessive allele. Roan coat colour of cattle is due to co-dominance (other coat colours are red and white). a) Show the results of a cross between a bull which has a roan coat and a short tail and a white cow which is heterozygous long tail. b) What percentage of male calves will have a red coat and a short tail?arrow_forwardIn mice, the presence of a dominant A allele results in the agouti pattern of fur color, whereas the aa homozygous recessive results in a solid color pattern. The presence of another dominant B allele results in black fur color, whereas the homozygous recessive bb results in brown fur color. The presence of a third dominant C allele is required for any color to be observed (brown or black), whereas the homozygous recessive cc results in lack of any color whatsoever (albino). What is the phenotype of a mouse with the following genotype? Aa bb cc albino Agouti color pattern and brown Solid color pattern and brown Agouti color pattern and black Solid color pattern and blackarrow_forwardCalico is a coat color found in cats, which is caused by a SEX-LINKED, CODOMINANT allele, where B = black, O = orange, and BO = calico, The following genotypes are possible; Female cats can be black Xx°, orange XOX°, or calico Xºx°, Male cats can be black XDY or orange XY. An orange male and a black female mate. What proportion of their offsprings will black? O 100% O 50% O 25% O 0%arrow_forward
- 3) In the snail Capaea nemoralis, an autosomal allele causing a banded shell (B®) is recessive to the allele for an unbanded shell (B°). Genes at a different locus determine the background color of the shell; here yellow (C') is recessive to brown (CBw). A banded, yellow snail is crossed with a homozygous brown, unbanded snail. The F1 are then crossed with banded, yellow snails (a test cross). a. What will the results of the testcross be in the loci that control banding and color ARE linked with NO crossing over.arrow_forwardGive typed explanation In pea plants, the tall allele (T) is dominant to the dwarf allele (t) and the yellow pea color allele (Y) is dominant to the green pea color allele (y). Cross TtYy with Ttyy. What would be the genotype and phenotype ratios in their offspring? (Please include the gametes produced by each parent.)arrow_forwardIn humans, ABO blood types refer to glycoproteins in the membranes of red blood cells. There are three alleles for this autosomal gene: IA, IB, and i. The IA allele codes for the A sugar, The IB allele codes for the B sugar, and the i allele doesn't code for any sugar. IA and IB are codominant, and i is recessive to both IA and IB. If an individual with type AB blood has a child with an individual with type O blood, what blood types could their children possibly have?arrow_forward
- b. What is the probability that the mating of Fifi with the described male will produce a kitten affected with the disease? Please helparrow_forwardAn AABB zebra fish is crossed with an aabb zebra fish. (A) is the dominant allele and (a) is the recessive allele of an autosomal gene. Similar relations exist between (B) and (b) alleles of another fish autosomal gene, at a different locus. The F1 are crossed with a homozygote recessive. a)What will be the results of the testcross and the progeny ratios if genes A and B are completely linked? b)What will the results of the testcross be if the loci assort independently? c) What will the results of the testcross be if the loci are linked with a certain recombination (crossing over) frequency?arrow_forward
