Question

What is the secondary stain in the spore stain?

Expert Solution
Step 1

Endospores are the structures that are formed by bacteria during unfavorable conditions (lack of nutrients). Most of the bacteria that forms spores are present in the soil or oceanic environments. The central spores are present in center of the vegetative cell. At the end of the vegetative cell, terminal endospores are present. The endospore structures are not capable of retaining stain and hence they are referred to as non-staining bodies. But certain spores can be observed by staining techniques.
