Interpretation:
The six molecules listed are to be ranked in order of increasing negative charge on carbon atom.
Concept introduction:
The sharing of the bonding electron pair depends on the electronegativities of the two atoms that form the bond. A more electronegative atom attracts the electrons more strongly and acquires a partial positive charge while the other atom acquires an equal positive charge. The higher the difference in electronegativities of the two atoms, will higher the magnitude of the charges.
