Chapter 1, Problem 18PE
Diabetes can cause a decrease in the specific gravity of urine. If normal urine has a specific gravity between 1.002 and 1.030, and a sample of urine has a density of 1.008 oz/liq. oz., does the urine sample have a low specific gravity?

Butter has a specific gravity of 0.86. What is the mass, in grams, of 2.15 L of butter? d. A 5.000‐mL urine sample has a mass of 5.025 g. If the normal range for the specific gravity of urine is 1.003 to 1.030, would the specific gravity of this urine sample indicate that the patient could have type 2 diabetes?
Specific gravity is important for diagnosing various health conditions, such as dehydration. The normal specific gravity falls between 1.002 - 1.030. Mild dehydration is indicative from specific gravity that is greater than 1.010 and the higher the value the more dehydrated one may be. A 25 year old female patient wastaken to the hospital with symptoms of extreme thirst, fatigue, and headaches. An 0.0077 liter urine sample was taken for the patient described above. The sample had a mass of 8.05 grams.
Butter has a specific gravity of 0.86. What is the mass of 2.35L of butter?
