Figure It Out: Which of the plants shown here are in the same order?
Taxonomy involves the identification of different organisms, classification of the identified organisms into categories, and naming them. The organisms are classified into different groups along with other similar organisms. Eight different taxonomic categories are there, namely domain, kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species.
Explanation of Solution
An order is a taxonomic rank that is used for classifying organisms. Order is more specific when compared to class, a taxonomic rank above the order. The plants given in the figure are wild carrot, marijuana, prickly rose, apple, and dog rose. Among the given flowers, marijuana, apple, dog rose, and prickly rose belongs to the same order Rosales.
