To determine:
The structural features of a skeletal muscle that propagates action potential into the interior of the cell.
Introduction:
Transverse tubules are the enlargements of the plasma membrane that penetrate deep into the muscle cells. They play a significant role in muscle contraction as the muscle action potential travels with these inviginations which gives a signal to release calcium ions and allows them to combine into sarcoplasm. This flow of calcium ions into sarcoplasm results into the functioning of proteins like actin which causes muscle contraction.
