What is the role of the afferent division of the nervous system?
To determine: The role played by the afferent division of the nervous system.
Introduction: Nervous system is a collection of the nerves and neurons which transmit signals between different body parts. The nervous system is divided into two main parts-the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system.
Explanation of Solution
The peripheral nervous system is composed of two types of neurons, sensory neurons and motors neurons. The sensory neurons are also known as the afferent division of the peripheral nervous system; whereas, the motor neurons are called the efferent division. The afferent division carries the information from the sensory receptors or the sensory organs to the central nervous system.
