The diaphragm is a muscle, which partitions the lower abdomen and the chest. It helps a person in breathing. The diaphragm contracts and opens the rib cage and allows the oxygen to go to the lungs, and then as we breathe out, it relaxes and pushes the carbon dioxide out of the lungs.
