DNA is a polynucleotide and each strand of DNA is made up of certain numbers of nucleotide, this is the reason behind the stability of double stranded structure of DNA, because if the numbers of nucleotides vary in each strand then complementary base pairing would not take place. The total number of nucleotide pairs depends on the amount of DNA in the body.
To calculate:
If the entire DNA in human cells is B-DNA, then how far DNA would reach if stretched end to end.
Introduction:
B DNA is a right handed helical structure consisting of approximately 10 base pairs per 360 degree. The base pairs are situated 0.34 nanometers (nm) apart.
