In a move that shocked candy traditionalists at the time, in 1995, the M&M/Mars Company replaced the tan M&M’s with blue ones. According to the company there were three frequencies associated with the six colors: 30% of M&M’s brown, 20% yellow and red each, with orange, blue, and green each occurring 10% of the time. On learning of the change, one concerned consumer counted the number of each color appearing in three pounds of M&M’s (60). His tally is shown in the following table. Test at the $\alpha =0.05$ level of significance the hypothesis that the consumer’s data are consistent with the company’s stated intentions.
