Chapter 10.4, Problem 1QTC
Summary Introduction

To determine:

Whether plant pollen transferred by an insect rather than by the wind, cause the risk of GMOs hybridizing with weedy relatives.

Introduction:

Pollination of plants often takes place by bees, butterflies, birds, and wind. The pollen grains get transferred from one flower to another that fertilizes the plant. This allows cross-pollination of 30% of crops and around 90% of wild plants.

But GMO or genetically modified organisms are those whose genetic make up is altered by adding genetic material from a related or unrelated organism. However, the basic aim of GMO is to conserve plants that have been threatened by extinction. But studies indicate that there is a genetic modification of the plants indicating that there is a less scope to the conservation of those species.
