It’s measured by two numbers: a systolic number that measures the pressure when the heart is contracting and a diastolic number that measures the pressure when the heart is resting. Both pressures are typically measured in millimeters of mercury (mm Hg) and given assystolic/diastolic numbers, such as 122/88.
