Chapter 11, Problem 6CT
Summary Introduction

To determine:

The way in which bacterial endospores are different from the spores of actinomycetes.

Introduction:

Bacteria have two phases in life cycle: a vegetative cell and an endospore. Vegetative cell is a metabolically growing and active entity that can undergo formation of endospore by the process of sporulation. This condition results due to lack of water, food or due to presence of high amount of UV rays, unfavorable conditions or mutagens. Once the endospore is formed it remains in resting, inert conditions which can withstand freezing, chemicals, drying, heat, radiations and so on.
