Ecstasy is the common name of the psychoactive drug 3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA). It is a drug of synthetic origin that alters the perception and mood of the person. It is said to give a feeling of elation, emotional warmth, pleasure, increased energy, and hallucinations. It does so by increasing the activity of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin in the brain.
