Chapter 11, Problem 8aCP
Summary Introduction
To review:
The following:
1. The categories of corticosteroids.
2. The zones of the adrenal cortex that releases the hormones of each category.
Introduction:
The superior borders of the kidneys are capped by paired organs known as the adrenal glands. The adrenal cortex is the outer part of the adrenal gland. The adrenal cortex is derived from embryonic mesodermtissue. The adrenal cortex does not receive neural innervations, hence its secretion is stimulated hormonally through adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) secreted from the anterior pituitary.
