The difference between the somatic nervous system and autonomic nervous system based on the arrangement of the efferent neurons and the name of the efferent neurons of the somatic nervous system.
Introduction:
The nervous system can be divided into the Central Nervous System (CNS) and the Peripheral Nervous System (PNS). The PNS is further sub-divided into the somatic nervous system (SoNS) and the autonomic nervous system (ANS).
The SoNS are the part of PNS which are involved in the body movements’ voluntary control by the skeletal muscles and involuntary reflex arcs. While, the ANS is that part of the PNS which controls the functioning of the visceral organs, that happens beyond our consciousness.
