You Decide A Lifetime of Food

During your lifetime, it has been claimed that you will eat about 700 times your adult body weight. Is this statement in the ballpark? Do a calculation to find out. State your assumptions clearly.

Hint: You might assume a life span of 78 years and that your present weight is your adult weight. Estimate the weight of food eaten daily at present, and use these data to project your lifetime food consumption.

A complexometric titration can also be used to determine the amount of calcium in milk. The calcium concentration in milk is typically 1,200 mg/L. How would you alter the procedure used in this experiment to determine milk’s calcium content?
