To explain: How ionizing radiation contributes to carcinogenesis.
Introduction: Cancer is caused due to abnormal cell cycle control system. It is an uncontrolled proliferation of cells that do not stop on depleting growth factors. Cancer cells make own growth factors. Therefore, they do not depend on the supply of external growth factors. Environmental agents such as ionizing radiations or ultraviolet radiation (UV) can cause mutation in the cell that makes it to divide abnormally.
