To Determine:
Whether the statement is true or false.
Introduction:
Fresh bones possess the quality of having a tensile strength. Tensile strength is the ability to allow a certain amount of flexibility while remaining strong and maintaining shape.Organic matter include material such as collagen fibers which has flexible properties. Hence without collagen a bone will be brittle. Inorganic matter is combined with calcium and gives hardness to the bone. Therefore, without inorganic matter, a bone will be too flexible. A laboratory test to determine this is conducted by soaking chicken bone in acid and/or baking the bone under high temperature removing either component to determine if this is true.
