Osteogenesis and ossification are the terms used to indicate the process of formation of bones.
Two types of ossification occur, which are intramembranous ossification and endochondral ossification.
Intramembranous ossification is when sheet-like connective membranous tissue is replaced by the bony tissue.
Endochondral ossification is when the hyaline cartilage is replaced by the bony tissue.
