Introduction: The Rh (rhesus) blood group was first studied in the rhesus monkey. In humans, this blood group contains numerous Rh antigens. If the membranes of red blood cells contain Rh antigens, then the blood is referred to as Rh-positive. If there are no Rh antigens on red blood cells, then the blood is referred to as Rh-negative.
