“Classical experiments” were conducted by professors at Stanford University by psychologist Leon Festinger and colleague James Carlsmith (1959). In this each student was given wooden pegs and wooden spools to sort in an ordered form. There was a scaling of tasks on a scale of -0.5 to +0.5. After the students after performing the work had to inform females in the room that the task was boring on a scale of -0.5 or interesting on a scale of +0.5. They were paid either $1 or $20 to perform the task.
