The function of the ciliated epithelial tissue in the trachea.
Introduction:
The respiratory tract consists of a conducting zone and a respiratory zone. The conducting zone conducts the air that is filtered, warmed, and finally moistened. It consists of the larynx, pharynx, trachea, nose, bronchioles, terminal bronchioles and bronchi. The conducting zone provides a path for the passage of air and has no role in the gaseous exchange. The trachea is involved in the conduction of air from the larynx to primary bronchi.
