Introduction: Lung compliance is the magnitude of change in lung volume generated through a change in the transpulmonary pressure (Ptp). Surfactants are involved in the reduction of cohesive forces between water molecules on the alveolar surface. These compounds result in the reduction of surface tension to increase the lung’s compliance and facilitate the easy expansion of the lungs.
