Chapter 13, Problem 8bCP
Summary Introduction
To review:
The mechanism by which pressure in the left ventricle and the systemic arteries varies at the time of the cardiac cycle.
Introduction:
Cardiac cycle represents the complete cycle of diastole and systole of the arteries and ventricles. Diastole is the relaxation period of arteries and ventricles in which the filling of chambers occurs through their respective vessels. Systole is the contraction period of the arteries and ventricles in which blood through the pulmonary artery is released from the right ventricle to the lungs, and through the aorta from the left ventricle to the different body parts. Finally, it results in diastole of ventricles and then, a new cardiac cycle starts.
