Bone marrow transplantation makes the patients highly prone to infections.

Introduction:

Bone marrow is asemisolid tissue found inside the bones. It is a site for hematopoiesis that is the formation of new blood cells from hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). These cells are multipotent and self-renewing. Bone marrow transplantation is the transplantation of these multipotent and self-renewingHSCs. Transplantation is of two types:autologous: type of transplantation in which stem cells of the patient’s own body are used;allogenic: type of transplantation in which stem cells of a donor are used.
