Chapter 14, Problem 2.5CT
Summary Introduction
Glucose is primarily produced from ingested food materials and it is considered as a primary source of energy in the body. Increased or decreased levels of glucose in the blood can lead to hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia, respectively. Hyperglycemia is known as an increased level of sugar in the blood or elevates blood glucose. Unabsorbed glucose molecules in the blood due to diabetes can induce hyperglycemia. Also, food, lack of physical activity, and certain medications lead to hyperglycemia. Hypoglycemia is known as a reduced level of sugar in the blood or deficiency of glucose in the blood.
