Natural selection is the basic mechanism of evolution. The theory of evolution, which was given by Charles Darwin, was based on natural selection. The organisms that adapt themselves to the changing environment have a better chance of survival. New species arise because of natural selection, which selectively chooses the superior species, traits or characteristics.
