Chapter 14.2, Problem 1CC
Summary Introduction

To determine: The proportion of homozygous dominant, homozygous recessive, and heterozygous offspring after AA × Aa genetic cross.

Concept introduction:

During gamete formation, two alleles of a gene segregate into different gametes. This is based on the Mendel’s law of segregation. After the genetic cross, the possible allele combinations are predicted, which determines the genotype of the offspring. The offspring can be homozygous dominant (both alleles are dominant), homozygous recessive (both alleles are recessive), or heterozygous (one dominant and one recessive allele).

Blurred answer
Students have asked these similar questions
for any gene with a dominant allele and recessive allele a what proportions of the offspring from an AA x Aa cross are expected to be homozygous dominant, homozygous recessive and heterozygous?
If a homozygous recessive individual is crossed with a homozygous dominant individual, what percent of their offspring will be heterozygous?
In a cross between fair skin, black hair (heterozygous for all these traits) with brown skin, red hair, which of the traits is/are dominant and which is/are recessive?
