To write:
The mechanism for receptor desensitization and the way in which a receptor can be reset to its original sensitized form. The effect of a mutant receptor lacking the serine and threonine phosphorylation sites on a cell.
Introduction:
Protein Kinase A or PKA is a protein which depends on the cyclic adenosine monophosphate (or cyclic AMP or cAMP) activity. If cAMP is absent, then it is deactivated. PKA helps in carrying the signal-transduction pathways and phosphorylates the proteins by the addition of a phosphate group. Adenylyl cyclase is an enzyme which catalyzes the cyclic AMP formation from ATP. A phosphoprotein is formed by the phosphorylation on the amino acids (serine, threonine, tyrosine). Desensitization takes place at high concentration when a receptor reduces its response due to an agonist.
