The symptoms and signs of Alzheimer disease and hormone secreted by neurons of hypothalamus in the posterior lobe.
Introduction:
Alzheimer disease is a neurodegenerative disorder that affects the mental health of a person. It affects about 11% of US population over the age of 65 and about 47% over the age of 85 and above.
Hypothalamus is a funnel shaped structure situated in the third ventricle of the brain. The pituitary gland is sub divided into two categories, anterior lobe and the posterior lobe. The posterior lobe of pituitary gland is connected to hypothalamus by a stalk or infundibulum. Two hormones are secreted by hypothalamus which travel down the axon and are stored in posterior lobe.
