Program Explanation

Difference between Data and Information:

Data Information
Data is a raw material to an end user. Information is product to user.
It is used as input for system. It is used as the output of data.
It is an unprocessed fact which does not based on information. It is processed data which always based on data.
It does not transmit any meaning because it is single unit. It transmits the logical meaning because it is a group of data.

For example:

  • Each student score is considered as the data.
  • Reading the temperature history across the world for past 10 years is considered as data.

For example:

  • The average score of complete school or class is considered as information.
  • Data of temperature history is analyzed to identify the rise of global temperature is considered as information.
