Chapter 15, Problem 1RQ
Summary Introduction

To discuss:

The difference between organic evolution from other forms of evolution.

Introduction:

The environmental changes leading to change occurring in the genetic composition of the organisms in population is the process referred to as organic evolution. The primary mechanisms for organic evolution include mutation, genetic drift, migration and natural selection. Darwinism and Lamarckism are the two theories majorly studied in evolution theories. There are other types of evolution such as chemical evolution, the evolution of fossil fuels etc.

Explanation of Solution

Lamarck's theory of evolution is based on the concept that organisms change during the course of their lifetime and pass the changes or traits to the offspring.

The series of events involving several modifications in the existing organism or species and hence organic evolution differs from other forms of evolution as it does not promote or allow new development. This explanation of the organic theory of evolution is also referred to as Darwinism.

Darwin's theory is known as natural selection and is based on the idea that every organism possesses variation which leads some to survive and reproduce more likely than others. Darwin's theory gained acceptance as it had evidence as support.

Conclusion

Thus, organic evolution differs from other forms of evolution as it does not promote or allow new development.
