Introduction :
The vertebral column or the back bone is a multi-bone structure that helps in maintaining the posture and the movement of the body. It is made up of 33 small bones which are known as the vertebrae.
Explanation of Solution
The vertebrae are of 4 types, cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacrococcygeal. The cervical vertebrae are the smallest vertebrae and are 7 in number. They are present in the neck region. The thoracic vertebrae are 12 in number and are present in the thorax and upper abdominal region. The lumbar vertebrae are 5 in number and present in lower back region.
