Chapter 15.13, Problem 1CR
Summary Introduction

The nitrogen present in the atmosphere is the vital source of proteins and nucleic acids. The term nitrogen metabolism refers to various processes such as anabolism and catabolism of purines and amino acids and nitrogen fixation. The nitrogen fixing bacteria obtain energy from the oxidation process of inorganic nitrogen compounds. For example, Nitrosomonas, Nitrobacter, Nitrosococcus and Nitrococcus.
