The Paleozoic era lasted from 543 million years ago to 248 million years ago. It can be divided into six periods, namely the Cambrian period, Ordovician period, Silurian period, Devonian period, Carboniferous period and Permian period. It began with the explosion of life forms on Earth and ended with a major extinction event.
