To explain:
Which component of the ANS arises from the embryonic neural tube and which ones arise from the neural crest.
Introduction:
The ANS (autonomic nervous system) comprises of efferent nerves that control the cardiac muscle, smooth muscles, and exocrine glands. It is divided into two systems depending on the level at which nerves exit the CNS (central nervous system). The sympathetic nervous system consists of autonomic nerves from the thoracic and lumbar parts of the spinal cord while the parasympathetic nervous system contains nerves from the lower brainstem and sacral cord. Although the classification is anatomically based, there are various physical, functional, and biochemical variations between the two systems.
