Question
Chapter 16, Problem 7BMW
Summary Introduction
The white part that surrounds the cornea of the eye is known as the sclera. Approximately, the sclera forms 80% of the surface area of the eyeball. The thickness of the sclera ranges from 0.3 mm to 1.0 mm. The sclera is made up of small fibers or fibrils of collagen and they are arranged in irregular and interlacing bundles. The interweaving and random arrangement of these connective tissue fibers are responsible for the strength and elasticity of the eyeball.
